In this Georgia one-day tour you will visit Mtskheta – the ancient capital of Georgian kings to enjoy the amazing beauty of the architecture of such ancient monasteries as Jvari and Svetitskhoveli. You will also do one of the oldest settlements in Georgia and end your journey in Gori, the city situated in the scenic Kartli valley.

The tour starts from Tbilisi. Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel. The tour begins with a visit to Jvari Church (6th -7th cc), the most important religious center and an architectural masterpiece of mediaeval Georgia. Enjoy breathtaking view from the church that towers over the city of Mtskheta. Continue to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, known as the burial site of Christ’s robe and the second largest church building in the country. The Cathedral has long been the principal Georgian church and remains one of the most venerated places of worship to this day. Take an excursion to Uplistsikhe, an ancient cave town and one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia. The town represents a complex of various structures dating from the 12 cent. BC to the 17th cent. AD. Finish your tour at Stalin’s Museum in Gori, dedicated to the life of Joseph Stalin.

Optional wine tasting: you can stop at Iago’s vineyard and taste artisan wine made by centuries old Georgian tradition in clay vessels qvevri. Reservation is required.
